Home Builders’ Confidence Holds Steady

Home Builders’ Confidence Holds Steady (CNBC)

The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) monthly sentiment index remains positive but unchanged from August. Sales are up year over year, but not as high as predicted. Buyers are reacting negatively to increasing mortgage rates. Uncertain employment situations lead many to hesitate on household formation. “While builder confidence is holding at the highest level in nearly eight years, many are reporting some hesitancy on the part of buyers due to the sharp increase in interest rates,” said NAHB Chairman Rick Judson, a home builder from Charlotte, N.C.
