Earnings Overshadow Ukraine Concerns, Stocks Rise to End Shortened Trading Week (Bloomberg)
Positive earnings outweighed concerns over continuing tensions in Ukraine in the minds of investors, who sent the S&P 500 up to end the week, the market’s best since July. The U.S. markets will be closed tomorrow. “Any deceleration of the conflict will be a relief for the market,” Terry Morris, a senior equity manager at Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-based National Penn Investors Trust Co., said. “Combine the ease of the tension between Russia and Ukraine and generally a positive tone of earnings, the result is an upward drifting market.”
