Best Week of the Year Leaves S&P 500 Near Record High (Bloomberg)

Confidence in the economy and better-than-expected earnings reports pushed the S&P 500 to its best week of 2014 so far and within 10 points of its record close. “I think the market is still believing that the economy is moving in the right direction,” Robert Pavlik, chief market strategist at Banyan Partners LLC, said. “Folks are looking to buy on the dips. The pullback is still fresh and they’re looking for opportunities.”
