Lithuania Seeks to Join Euro Beginning in 2015 (Reuters)

Lithuania is seeking to join the European Union’s currency, the euro, beginning January 1, 2015. Such a move would further the nation’s attempts to distance itself from the Soviet Union and join its Baltic neighbors, Estonia and Latvia, in the use of the euro. Lithuania’s previous attempt to join the euro failed when the country missed an inflation target. The joining, if successful, should help lift trade and investment in Europe.
