ISM Survey Reports Slowing December Growth (Reuters)
The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) reported a second month of slowing growth in the U.S. services sector, falling to 53 from November’s 53.9. (Anything above 50 represents growth.) Business activity also fell, from 55.5 to 55.2. New order activity contracted, dropping to 49.4, the lowest reading for new orders since May 2009.
