Stocks Rise in Short Trading Day on Strong Home Sales

Stocks Rise in Short Trading Day (Bloomberg)

U.S. stocks rose during a shortened trading session today, extending records, due in part to forecast-beating data for durable goods orders and new home sales. “General economic conditions are showing a sustainable recovery pattern,” Eric Teal, chief investment officer at First Citizens BancShares Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, said. “I think we’ll continue to grind higher through year-end and we anticipate that the fourth-quarter earnings outlook will be positive as well.”
