TELEFONICA (TEF)
Last week’s pick, Spanish telecom giant Telefonica soared 6.8% in five short trading days, in what was a strong week for European telecoms across the board. You’ve already booked spectacular short term profits of 132% in the options in just four days! Hold on to both the stock and your remaining options for now.
MILLICOM INTERNATIONAL (MICC)
Millicom soared almost 12% in a single day last week, when it reported a 58% rise in Q3 profits. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were $179 million, which blew past expectations of $167 million. With 12.8 million subscribers at the end of the quarter, Millicom’s subscribers shot up 62%, making it the fastest growing cell phone play on the planet. The stock is up just under 23% since our recommendation, and you’ve already taken 193% and 188% profits in the options so far. Hold on to your stock as it’s still trading at less than $50, and we are looking for a takeover bid of close to $60.
AMERICA MOVIL (AMX)
Last week, Global Bull Market Alert stalwart America Movil announced a 40.4% jump in Q3 profits, compared with the same quarter last year. It added 6.2 million new subscribers between July and September, and now has close to 114 million wireless subscribers across Latin America. America Movil also expects to add 22 million new customers in 2007, including three pending acquisitions of assets in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela from Verizon Communications. The stock is up almost 6% since Oct. 10 (over 170% on an annualized basis!), and you’ve already taken a 54% profit in your options.
SWEDISH ETF (EWD)
Our bet on Sweden is up 6.34% since Sept. 18. Annualized, that’s a gain of over 70%. With a GDP growth rate of 5.1%, inflation at 1.5%, a budget surplus of 2.2%, and a current account surplus of 6%, Sweden’s macroeconomic performance is already among the best on the globe. Add to that market style reforms in the offing, and you have the makings of a strong secular bull market over the next three to five years.
Also, look for our Brazilian holding, Embraer (ERJ), to move upward on the back of favorable election results in Brazil this weekend.
